Content / Goals / Opportunities & Benefits - Welcome to Sketches Of A City, a special project designed for (IB -) Film & Arts students and teachers. I offer a Jazz Suite that musically describes various locations and moods of a city and its citizens within 24 hours. The unique aspect of this project is its adaptability to almost all major cities worldwide, aiming to connect all continents. - As the composer, my goal is to shift the focus of film & art creation to revolve around the music, providing a learning experience for students to carefully listen to the music, visualize its themes and intentions, rediscover the beauty of a city and various Jazz styles, and follow my storyboard. - Additionally, the project aims to facilitate collaboration between schools offering (IB-) Film & Arts programs, leading to the production of a common end product that can be shared through DVDs or streaming platforms. - The ultimate goal is to generate worldwide interest, including among the professional film & arts industry, and to present a selected film & arts production at a prestigious music festival in fall 2026 (to be announced soon), accompanied by a live performance of the music. - (IB-)Music Composition Basic I - 4 | MusicMyLanguageWhat comes first: Chord Structure, Music Genre or rhythm pattern to find your melody? Let's dive in and find ways how to start composing! (IB-) Music / Composition & Orchestration (Arrangement) A Course - (Almost) Starting From Scratch by Rolf Becker 5.) Developing Your Melody Once you’ve created YOUR initial melody, it’s time to expand and refine it. Research and Inspiration: Explore works by your favorite musicians or vocal artists that resonate with your musical idea. Analyze how they develop melodies within your chosen genre, and use these insights to refine your composition. By following these steps, you’ll not only create a melody but also begin to develop it into a fully realized piece of music. Remember, the key to successful composition lies in staying open to inspiration and allowing your creativity to flow naturally. 00:00 / 00:36 PREVIOUS Notes & Thoughts Homepage
- Contact | MusicMyLanguageGet in touch to learn more about the "Sketches Of A City" project Dear (IB) Film Teachers , In order to be able to realize this great project, a contractual agreement with the respective school is necessary so that both sides are legally protected, especially if a professional studio recording of the music is to be made for a DVD or online streaming production (e.g. price scale, music license fees, contract terms, etc.) The pricing for the realization of this project depends on the number of participating schools, so that a coverage of the rather high studio production costs is guaranteed (musicians' fees, recording studio, sound engineers, mixing & mastering). *The studio recordings will be played by top professional musicians to guarantee the "real life application" goal. I therefore ask for a lively exchange with other colleagues, either to use this project as an individual project within the framework of the (IB) film program and/or to seek cooperation with other schools in order to realize a local or even international film production. I would now like to ask you to contact me (see below) to initiate the next steps. Thank you very much!
